Hector Intro

Last year I put together the intro for Hector Central for Good Company.

Intro sequences can be great fun to work on especially when you have control over the edit, grade, fx and titles.

Music Video Fun

I cut this video last year for the artist Roisin El Cherif. It was shot by the talented Niall O’Connor and it looks insanely good.

Its a bit random putting this up now but it happens I’m just putting the finishing touches on a new music video Roisin directed for the Palestinian singer and songwriter Ruba Shamshoum. Exciting times.

Galway Film Fleadh

Great news this week as three films I worked on were confirmed for the Galway Film Fleadh, the feature film Traders and two short films Great Wide Open and Waiting for Tom. I worked as Colourist on all three films and edited Waiting for Tom.

Congratulations to directors Rachel Moriarty, Peter Murphy, Ruth O’Looney and Ciarán Dooley. Also thanks to all the producers, editors, cameramen and others who I’m too lazy to thank individually.

First few months freelance.

It’s been a busy few months since I took the jump into freelance work.

Two online jobs brought me to Yellow Moon near Belfast. Both jobs were for Tern TV, the three part series ‘The Chicken People’ and the one off ‘Murphy and O’Kane do….Donegal’. It was a great experience working with Tern TV and what can I say about Yellow Moon’s set up, just wow.

I was back in High Wire for a few weeks cutting two episodes of Tracks and Trails for Sherwin Media. It was my first time working with the talented director Bláithín Ní Chatháin and it was great fun.

I spent 6 weeks cutting and onlining ‘Junior Eurovision Eire’ For Adare productions. The show caused a bit of a buzz with the winner performing on the late late aswell as representing Ireland in Bulgaria at the Junior Eurovision.

I am in the process of grading a series of sketches for the comedy trio Foil, Arms & Hogg. The first sketch was broadcast last Monday on Republic of Telly. Nice to be using DaVinci Resolve again.

From now till Christmas I’ll be cutting and onlining the new quiz show ‘Play It By Year’ for Adare Productions.  The legendary Mike Murphy makes a return to TV in a show I expect will be a big hit. Four, hour long episodes will go out over Christmas week. Looks great so far.

Blog posts about what I’m working at are a bit pointless but I have a website so might as well post the odd update while I’m commuting. Enjoy.

A very long apprenticeship

Today I start my first freelance gig after seven years in High Wire, a place where I cut my first TV show, followed by my first TV series, was thrown into the world of online and trained on Davinci Resolve. Many thanks to Mark Quinn for his patience, guidance and for the very long apprenticeship.
